Seven years ago today, I started Wild Bird with more instinct than certainty. I didn’t have a perfect plan or a clear map. What I had was belief…belief that there was another way to build a business, and the strength to take a leap without knowing exactly how I’d land. The quote I built this business on still matters to me today:
She took the leap and built her wings on the way down.
That’s Wild Bird. Always has been. I believe, running a business isn’t about getting everything right. It’s about trying. Failing. Learning. And having the courage to get back up and try again often in a different way.
Over seven years, there have been moments of momentum and moments of doubt. Wins that felt big. Mistakes that felt personal. Decisions that worked. Decisions that didn’t. Every single one of them has taught me something not just about business, but about myself. I’m proud of those lessons. They’ve shaped how I lead. How I listen. How I choose clients. How I build trust. They’ve made Wild Bird stronger, and they’ve helped the people I work with grow too because growth never comes from standing still.
This business has been built through action, not theory. Through real conversations. Through showing up even when things felt uncomfortable. Through adapting when something stopped working, rather than clinging to it out of fear.
Wild Bird today looks different to how it started and that’s exactly how it should be. Growth isn’t linear. Confidence isn’t constant. But belief, once earned, is powerful. I’m grateful to the people who have walked alongside me over the years, for the support, the challenge, the advice, the honesty, and the difficult conversations that helped shape both the business and me.
Seven years in, I still don’t claim to have all the answers. What I do have is clarity about why I’m here. I believe in thoughtful work. In people-first businesses. In progress over perfection. In trying again when the first version doesn’t quite land.
This anniversary isn’t about milestones or metrics. It’s about recognising the quiet strength it takes to keep going. To keep learning. To keep building wings, even now.
Seven years of Wild Bird. Built on belief. Strengthened by experience. Still in flight.
